Frequently asked questions

Common questions about PauseTools

If your question isn’t covered here, email support@pausetools.ai.

Access & codes

What does my code give me?

Your access code unlocks a PauseTools account for the duration specified with your purchase. Once redeemed, you can hold an ongoing coaching conversation with Jam, grounded in the 12 Pauses from Pause: How to Lead Brilliant Work in a Busy World.

Can I share my code?

Each code is single-use and tied to one account. Once redeemed, it cannot be transferred to another person. If you received a code as part of a group purchase or event, each participant will have received their own code.

When does my access expire?

Access is tied to your account. There is no hard expiry — your account remains active as long as you use it. Accounts that have been inactive for 24 months are automatically closed, with 30 days’ notice sent to the email address on file before any data is removed.

Using Jam

What does Jam know?

Jam knows the content of Pauseby Shawn & Anne Vanderhoven, your coaching history with it, and your practice records. It does not browse the internet, access your organization’s systems, or have knowledge of events after its training cutoff. Its scope is the 12 Pauses and how they apply to your specific leadership situation.

Why won't Jam answer my medical, legal, or HR question?

Jam is grounded exclusively in Pauseand its 12 Pauses framework. It will not advise on topics outside that scope — including medical, legal, HR, financial, or general leadership questions that aren’t anchored in the book. That constraint is what makes it trustworthy on the things it does cover. When a question falls outside its scope, Jam will say so directly and point you toward the Pause most likely to help.

How do I report a problem with Jam's response?

Use the flag or report option on any Jam message. You can also email us at support@pausetools.ai with the details of what you saw and the context of the conversation.

What happens if PauseTools breaks during my conversation?

Your conversation history is saved automatically as you go. If the page errors or you lose your connection, reload the page and your session will pick up where it left off. Jam will remember what you were working on.

Privacy & data

How do you handle my conversation data?

Your conversations are stored to provide the coaching experience — context and memory are what make the ongoing conversation useful. They are not used to train AI models. You can export or delete your data at any time from your account settings. For full detail, see our privacy notice.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to Account → Privacy → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent — your profile, conversation history, practice records, and analytics data are all removed in a single cascading operation. This cannot be undone.

Billing & refunds

How do I get a refund?

PauseTools access codes are typically included with book purchases or event registrations. For refund requests, contact the original point of purchase — the bookseller, event organiser, or conference where you registered. If you’re unsure, or if your code came through another channel, email us at support@pausetools.ai and we’ll do our best to help.
